Description:

The IT department is seeking an advanced Database Developer to support AOPC services that facilitate information sharing between court case management systems and external agencies. While applications are built in Java, a significant amount of business logic resides in database stored procedures, triggers, and views. This role requires both advanced development skills and strong production support capabilities, maintaining datastores, complex T-SQL code, and other database objects.

Following initial training, telework may be available up to two days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Quality & Discrepancy Resolution : Investigate and resolve data discrepancies by tracing data flows across complex relational structures.

Performance Optimization : Identify and resolve SQL performance issues; optimize queries, procedures, and triggers for efficiency and scalability.

Testing & Code Review: Conduct detailed testing, debugging, and peer code reviews of database logic and scripts.

Database-Driven Business Logic: Own and enhance complex business logic implemented in stored procedures, triggers, and views that support Java-based applications.

Production Support: Monitor and support existing systems, ensuring reliability, stability, and data integrity across integrated applications.

Data Model Design: Contribute to relational data model design to support new application features and system integrations.

Legacy System Support: Maintain, refactor, and modernize existing database code to improve long-term performance and maintainability.

On-Call Rotation: Participate in weekly on-call support for critical systems outside of standard business hours.

Cross-Team Collaboration : Work closely with Java developers, analysts, and testers to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.

Required Qualifications:

Advanced SQL/T-SQL Expertise: Extensive experience in designing and coding stored procedures, triggers, views, and database scripts in client-server environments.

Relational Database Mastery: Deep knowledge of relational database design, optimization, and complex query development.

Troubleshooting & Debugging: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex errors, production issues, and data reconciliation challenges in business-critical systems.

Integration with Java Applications: Experience collaborating with Java developers to align database logic with application code.

Ownership & Accountability: Demonstrated ability to self-review and deliver accurate, complete work with minimal oversight.

Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical database findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Technology: Advanced working knowledge of SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise (formerly Sybase).

Optional but Valuable: Experience with Java or another object-oriented language to better align database logic with application development.

Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background check (conducted by AOPC).
