Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer to serve as a technical subject matter expert responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, enhancement, and ongoing support of Microsoft 365 cloud services. This role spans the broader Microsoft ecosystem, including SharePoint Online, Microsoft Purview, Power Platform, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, Entra ID, and Defender.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SharePoint Online architecture and custom solution development, including scalable site structures, content models, integrations, automation frameworks, and reusable components. This individual will also provide technical leadership in information governance, compliance, business process automation, and the secure implementation of emerging Microsoft AI capabilities.

The Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer will work independently to establish architectural standards, develop engineering best practices, evaluate emerging technologies, and collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and effective cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft 365 Architecture, Engineering, and Administration

Administer, troubleshoot, enhance, and support Microsoft 365 cloud services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Entra ID, Defender, Purview, and Power Platform.

Design, configure, and optimize Microsoft 365 services in accordance with industry standards, Microsoft best practices, and security requirements.

Develop architectural standards, governance models, operational processes, and technical documentation.

Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for complex Microsoft 365 platform issues.

Develop PowerShell scripts and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and reliability.

Evaluate Microsoft roadmap changes and emerging technologies to identify opportunities, assess risks, and recommend platform improvements.

SharePoint Online Development and Collaboration Engineering

Design, develop, and implement advanced SharePoint Online solutions beyond traditional document management and file collaboration.

Build modern SharePoint sites, pages, lists, workflows, metadata structures, integrations, and business-focused collaboration experiences.

Assess business requirements and translate operational needs into scalable Microsoft 365 solutions.

Develop integrations between SharePoint Online, other Microsoft 365 services, Power Platform solutions, and approved third-party applications.

Establish and maintain SharePoint governance standards, development practices, lifecycle processes, and adoption recommendations.

Microsoft Purview, Information Governance, and Compliance

Design, implement, and administer Microsoft Purview information protection and governance capabilities.

Develop and maintain data classification strategies, sensitivity labels, retention policies, and information lifecycle management solutions.

Configure and enhance Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls across Microsoft 365 workloads.

Collaborate with Security, Privacy, Legal, Records Management, and business stakeholders to translate governance requirements into technical solutions.

Evaluate emerging Microsoft compliance capabilities and recommend improvements to strengthen data protection.

Power Platform and Microsoft Cloud Innovation

Design, develop, and support solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate and Power Apps.

Create workflow automation and business process improvement solutions integrated with Microsoft 365 services.

Establish and maintain Power Platform governance practices, security controls, development standards, and lifecycle processes.

Support the adoption and governance of Microsoft AI capabilities, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, agents, and connectors.

Evaluate opportunities to securely leverage AI technologies to improve business productivity and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, with seven or more years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and technical certifications.

Advanced experience administering and engineering enterprise Microsoft 365 environments.

Extensive SharePoint Online experience, including modern site development, lists, metadata, integrations, automation, governance, and solution design.

Strong experience developing Microsoft Power Platform solutions, including Power Automate and Power Apps.

Experience implementing Microsoft Purview information governance and protection capabilities, including sensitivity labels, retention policies, classification strategies, and DLP.

Strong knowledge of Entra ID, authentication technologies, Conditional Access, multifactor authentication (MFA), and Microsoft cloud security practices.

Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation experience.

Demonstrated ability to independently research, evaluate, design, and implement complex technical solutions.

Ability to provide technical guidance, recommendations, and knowledge sharing to other IT professionals.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to business stakeholders and leadership.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, critical-thinking, and organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to think strategically, independently investigate and analyze information, and synthesize information from multiple sources.

Proven ability to manage multiple activities and competing priorities while delivering accurate, timely results.

Additional Requirements

Must be a Pennsylvania resident.

Must be available to work onsite at least one day per week.

Must participate in an on-call rotation.
